As we all begin to see a shift here in Australia working from home, with it appearing that we may be back in the office perhaps a little sooner than we thought, there’s no better time to start planning the pieces you’ll be wearing as the cooler months set in. Whether you’re looking to add to your wardrobe, or perhaps recycle some old favourites that are back trending, we’ve done the hard work for you to curate the top winter looks for 2020.
Is it a new chunky knit? A comfy pair of jeans or longline coat on your wishlist? We’ve taken the time to build our favourite on-trend pieces for our lovely FRDM fam as we head into the wintery months. Here’s the top five.
No surprise here, is it even winter if you don’t have an oversized knit to wear? We think not and that’s why we love seeing what fun, bright colours brands are introducing this season. Even if it’s dark and gloomy outside your wardrobe definitely doesn't need to be. We are loving soft blues and lilac, but our absolute must-have is an orange knit to make a statement this season.
Did we mention that neutral is back, the perfect contrast to your statement knit. And we bet you already have a bunch of this trend in your wardrobe. Whether a white cardigan or perhaps a sandy blazer, the options for building your capsule collection this winter are endless with so many timeless tonal pieces available. Our go-to look? We can’t go past a beige shirt, loosely tucked into high-waisted jeans.
Light Blue Jeans
Speaking of jeans, a high-waisted ‘mom’ style is on the cards as an absolute favourite for winter. With many of us still having the flexibility of working from home, this style of jeans is an essential to any modern wardrobe. With social drinks happening in the comfort of our homes, and weekend outings calling for a more casual feel, your high-waisted pair of jeans are definitely in need this winter. A light blue pair remains our pick.
It may have been put away for a while, but the cardigan is definitely making a comeback. And what’s even better is that this season it’s made to have fun. Don’t be afraid to layer over a cute bralette and leave a button (or two) loose. Keeping it simple with a white cardigan is proving to be a fashion savvy favourite.
Is any winter wardrobe really complete without adding that final layer? We think not. As the cold weather sets in you can’t leave the house without a coat to keep you warm. This season the longer length coat is in, and layering is trending. While a shade of brown is always a winner, having some fun with a brighter colour might be more your vibe.
